With $114 USD (34,869 LKR) from your generous support, HealthAid SL was able to provide 200 period packs to support 100 young schoolgirls, each receiving two packs, at Thennakoon Maha Vidyalaya in Sigiriya. This marks the first step toward our goal of restoring dignity and comfort to young women in need. At HealthAid, our mission, rooted in the compassion and commitment of my grandfather, continues to begin at home with his enduring efforts inspiring every act of service. Each pack was wrapped with care to protect the dignity and privacy of the young girls before being personally delivered.
Next, the principal of the school spoke, beginning by expressing her gratitude for HealthAid’s decision to choose their small, humble school among so many others. She went on to share the difficult reality of life for the children there, speaking of constant trouble from wild elephants, the lack of transportation, and how, according to her, theirs is the poorest school in the region.
This shows why it is so important for the efforts of HealthAid to continue, and it surely cannot do so without your support.
