Project Sigiriya

HealthAid Sri Lanka unites with the Sri Lankan Air Force to fight period poverty!

We at HealthAid Sri Lanka are proud to have partnered with the Sri Lanka Air Force Base at Sigiriya (SLAF) to organize a community outreach initiative at Udawalayagama Kanishta Vidyalaya (Middle School), Sigiriya, aimed at promoting the health and well-being of school-aged girls.

The program began with a physiological wellbeing seminar conducted by Dr. Malathi Dissanayake, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physiology and Counselling, Faculty of Health Sciences, Open University of Sri Lanka, alongside Ms. Vishaka Samarasekara, Psychological Counselor at Damrivi Foundation, Sri Lanka. The seminar focused on encouraging personal hygiene, self-discipline, and personal development among the students. The highlight of the event was the distribution of sanitary products, made possible through crowdfunding efforts by HealthAid Sri Lanka. We sincerely thank all our generous supporters for making this possible! The donations were distributed by Mr. Samarasekara and Ms. Vishaka Samarasekara, representing HealthAid Sri Lanka as part of the distribution team (see our “About Us” page for more information).

This impactful initiative not only addressed menstrual hygiene and wellbeing for underserved young girls but also helped strengthen the bond between the benevolent Sri Lankan military community and underserved local schools through meaningful service. None of this would have been possible without the kind contributions of HealthAid Sri Lanka donors. Thank you so much for your support!

It all began with your kindness...

Your generous donations brought 134 period packs for 67 school girls who truly needed them.
